Yes, I am still painting marbles. This was painted several months ago, and I think it would be really cool to paint a GIANT marble like this. There is just so much going on in these little colorful glass orbs.
Must finish a few commissions first though.
Before my vacation to Vermont, I went to Washington DC for a ceremony to present a Congressional Medal to the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute. The medal commemorates the bombing of the 16th Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL in which 4 young girls were killed. Sept 15 was the 50 year anniversary of this event. I designed the obverse side shown here.
The design was a challenge, because I could not use the images of the little girls because of copyright issues. But, I did not want the image to be symbolic, I wanted it to be THEM. I am very pleased and honored that my design was chosen.
